Country music legend and long-time marijuana advocate, Willie Nelson, is deciding to put his money where his mouth (and joint) is by launching Willie’s Reserve, according to the LA Times.
Nelson‘s long-awaited branded marijuana products will be released in August in both Colorado and Washington legal-weed shops. To properly launch the roll-out, he’ll perform concerts in each state. The Willie Nelson & Family shows will take place on:
• July 23 at Marymoor Park in Redmond, WA
• July 30 at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Greenwood, CO (with Kacey Musgraves)
Nelson is also planning on taking the idea of Willie’s Reserve one step further; his brand won’t be restricted to a particular strain like some of the other celebs who have their own personal marijuana strains. Instead, the Reserve brand will offer a number of different strains.
“I’ve smoked enough and I want to give back,” said Nelson in a press release.
Country music’s most outspoken stoner is making a promise that his premium cannabis brand, Willie’s Reserve, is “top-grade, meticulously grown and beautifully packaged.” To assure it’s a quality product, Nelson has consulted with horticulturalists and cannabis farmers so that, in the wording of the release, “consumers will be able to indulge with confidence, savoring each puff while knowing they’re partaking in an age-old ritual that has bonded marijuana-lovers together since the first dried leaves were touched with flame.”
The announcement comes as California heads toward a November election that includes a ballot measure that would legalize the recreational use of marijuana. Currently the state requires a doctor’s evaluation and prescription before a resident can purchase marijuana products.
After rolling out the brand in Colorado and Washington, Nelson’s company plans on expanding as states legalize marijuana for recreational use.
The Reserve product line includes “signature Ready Rolls and high quality flower,” according to a press release. The featured strains are Blue Dream, Master Kush, NYC Diesel, Jack the Ripper, White Widow and Grand Daddy Purple. The line also has cannabis oil vape pens.
In Washington, Willie’s Reserve will initially be available at the following stores: Fweedom Collective, Herbn Elements and Nimbin Pot Shop (all in Seattle); Buddy’s of Renton and The Evergreen Market (both in Renton); Greenside Recreational (Des Moines); and Gypsy Greens (Chehalis). Colorado stores have yet to be announced.
