Streaming television in this age of lockdown that you might have otherwise. If you’re beginning to run low on content to watch when you’re high, we’ve got good news. Netflix is about to launch a new series; a cooking show where every dish contains one key ingredient: marijuana.

The show, Cooking With Cannabis, will be a competition based reality cooking show hosted by Kelis, of Milkshake fame and renowned Portland-based cannabis chef Leather Storrs, known by some as the “Anthony Bourdain of weed”.

While the internet delivers an endless number of cooking shows, a handful of weed shows, and even a couple of shows in which the cooks are high, this is the first we’ve seen that focuses specifically on cooking with this aromatic herb.

We don’t know much yet about Cooking With Cannabis, but according to a report in the New York Daily News, each episode of the six-episode series will feature three professional chefs competing against one another to incorporate cannabis into their recipes. We’re looking forward to seeing whether the chefs will be judged on taste alone, or if effectiveness in making diners eyelids droopy will also be part of their evaluation.

For two long, cooking with cannabis has meant brownies and cookies with a slightly herbaceous taste that did the job while compromising on flavor. We’re looking forward to a weed cooking experience in which the meal is the reason, rather than just an excuse to get weed in one’s digestive system.

The show will feature guest appearances from Ricki Lake, Mary Lynn Rajskub, and rappers Too $hort and El-P. And – because of when else? – Cooking With Cannabis will drop on Netflix on April 20th. That’s 4/20, for those of you out there who have already ingested too much to pick up on these subtleties.
