Las Vegas Recreational Marijuana

Despite Nevada’s ongoing struggles to keep up with demand due to regulatory complications, dispensaries still have product that any adult 21 and over can purchase legally. If you’re planning a visit, here’s what you need to know about Las Vegas Recreational Marijuana.

Anyone who is aged 21 and older with a valid form of identification can buy up to one ounce of flower and/or one-eighth of an ounce of edibles or concentrates like hash. It is legal for adults to gift, without remuneration, up to 1 oz flower or 1/8 oz concentrates, but it is illegal to sell without state-provided licensing.

Possession or use of marijuana in a public setting, that includes on the Strip, is a misdemeanor that is punishable by law: no, you can’t smoke in or near casinos or hotels. You also can’t smoke in parks, at sporting events, in moving vehicles, or at concerts or festivals.  The only legal place to consume cannabis substances is in a private residence, but it is not legal on US properties including parks and federally subsidized housing. According to High Times, there are similar rules for public use of alcohol: it’s illegal to drink outdoors on the Vegas strip, “which generally isn’t enforced unless someone is causing trouble. It’s not clear yet if pot will be handled similarly.” Hotel-Casinos have banned cannabis use because they operate under federal licenses, and the substance is still illegal under federal law.

The difficulty finding a place to enjoy your cannabis as a tourist in Nevada is expected to be alleviated, but legislation to establish cannabis clubs and similar was shot down earlier this year. Some cannabis-friendly condos have been set up just off the strip, and more similar small operations are expected to pop up, but new legislation is expected to be forthcoming.

It is, of course, illegal to drive or operate machinery under the influence.

Adults may also grow up to 6 plants and can possess the full harvest of those plants if they are 25 miles or more away from an operating retailer. It is unlawful for any residence to be in possession of more than 12 plants at any time.

When it comes to paraphernalia, adults may manufacture, possess Las Vegas Recreational Marijuana, use, transport, or purchase marijuana paraphernalia, or to distribute or sell marijuana paraphernalia to a person who is 21 years of age or older.

Nevada is experiencing an unexpectedly high demand in the outset of their venture into legal recreational and has had some other bumps in the road, but things are expected to smooth out and there still seems to be some stock left on the shelves. If you’re planning on visiting, find a friend with a private residence or do your research to find a pot-friendly place to stay. You can brush up on all the laws, regulations, and penalties here.
